Olympian Warwick Draper was no child sporting prodigy, but he learned fast. The 32-year-old was in Year 9 when he discovered kayaking and took to it like a duck to water.
'I started at school, at ELTHAM College,' he explains. “The first time I did it was at a school camp in Year 9. I realised I really liked it and progressed in it quite quickly. So I got into the school’s development squad and went on to make the (junior) world championship team in Year 11 and 12.' Read more...

Five Diamond Valley students are among 308 VCE graduates from 2008 to be honoured in the Premier’s VCE awards. They are Brett Way of Eltham High School for outdoor and environmental studies, James Neil of St Helena Secondary College for furnishing, Eltham College’s Aidan McDonald for music industry skills, Kelsie Nabben for hospitality and Fiona Tansley for equine industry.

Gloria Jingair from Wadeye in the Northern Territory teaches ELTHAM College student Miranda Deylen how to create delicate fibre-craft pieces by hooking them onto her toes. Matthew Carnell, a second-year apprentice at Eltham’s Mercers Restaurant, is one of six finalists in the 2009 Thierry Marx Career Development Award run by Restaurant and Catering Victoria.
