One scholarship is offered for Year 7 entry and one scholarship for Senior School entry. These scholarships will be for 33% fee remission tenable until the end of Year 12.
Criteria
No minimum musical standard required for a Year 7 scholarship application
A minimum standard of AMEB Grade 5 (or equivalent) for Years 10-12 scholarship applications
Scholarship holder to sign a contract to say they will make a substantial contribution to music at ELTHAM through participation in various ensembles, and to the College in general
A review of the music scholarship holder's performance and contribution to the Music Department (in conjunction with academic assessment) towards the end of each year by a panel from the Music team
Evaluation of applications will be made on the basis of an interview and audition to assess current ability and future potential. The process will take approximately 25 - 30 minutes and include:
Two contrasting works to be performed
Sight-reading
Some technical work (scales etc)
An explanation by a music team member of what musical opportunities are available for the student at ELTHAM
An opportunity for the student to both ask questions and tell us something of their previous experiences
A report from the student’s previous music teacher or school
Candidates who do not currently attend ELTHAM College of Education may be required to complete a general entry assessment in addition to an interview or audition.
