Sustainability is one of ELTHAM’s seven core values and we reflect this by supporting the principles of Earth Care, People Care and Fair Share. Our goal is to create a framework for sustainability throughout ELTHAM.
Earth Care
ELTHAM’s commitment to developing young people with the capacity to live independent and sustainable lifestyles prompts a strong focus on ‘green’ strategies and practices in the operation of our school. Our culture of proactive behaviour fuels our desire for positive action to address issues of stewardship versus ownership, conservation, climate change, recycling and waste reduction. We are also looking for ways reduce our energy consumption in all our work processes.
People Care
We take our responsibility as global citizens seriously. Our aim is to empower young people to take an active role in shaping their life and world. Caring for young people also means ensuring they are equipped with a ‘can do’ attitude to problem solving and are supported to develop the resilience needed to thrive on change.
Fair Share
Our culture promotes change and we support young people to turn great ideas into reality. We encourage our students to support worthy causes, volunteer for community action and to recognize their capacity to make a difference to the lives of others.
We will continue to build mutually beneficial relationships with like minded organisations in our local community, nationally and internationally.
