Permaculture is an ethical decision-making and thinking skill that emphasises care for the planet and all people, and the sharing of resources and energy. Permaculture is underpinned by three simple ethical principles to guide our everyday thinking and actions: Earth Care, People Care, Fair Share.
ELTHAM has adopted these three principles to define its core value of Sustainability.

Training in permaculture leads to an exciting range of career opportunities in the rapidly growing field of sustainability. This specialised field of study is fast gaining recognition for its educational, environmental and social significance.
Our reputation as a trail blazer in Australian sustainability education continues to grow through Permaculture. We are now the national centre for training of teachers of Accredited Permaculture Training (APT), licensed to deliver training in all five levels, up to Diploma in Permaculture.
Working with our partners in most Australian states, we are also one of only two institutions nationally accredited to roll out permaculture training in schools and the community nationwide, and to produce relevant training materials.
