ELTHAM College is seeking a dedicated and experienced School Nurse to join our vibrant P–12 community. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in supporting the health, wellbeing, and safety of students and broader College community at a school where education is a daring adventure. 

This role is a part-time (0.4-0.6 FTE) role, commencing in Term 1, 2026. 

To apply for this role, you will be available to work Wednesday to Friday.

The School Nurse is responsible for managing the physical health and wellbeing needs of students from 3 to 18 years, as well as staff and visitors, as required. This role ensures the effective health and wellbeing support of the College community and oversees compliance with legislative, medical, and College-based health requirements. 

About the Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high-quality first aid and emergency medical response.
  • Managing student health information, Health Support Plans, and medication.
  • Coordinating immunisation programs and supporting communicable disease management.
  • Maintaining health records, policies, procedures, and compliance documentation.
  • Liaising professionally with students, families, staff, and medical practitioners.
  • Ensuring first aid resources and supplies are maintained across the College.
  • Supporting staff training, including anaphylaxis and medical needs briefings.
  • Assisting with camps, excursions, risk management, and student services processes.

About you

You are a compassionate and knowledgeable nursing professional who enjoys working with children and young people. You can assess medical situations with confidence, respond calmly in emergencies, and communicate effectively with staff, students, and families.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Tertiary qualification in Nursing and current registration with the Victorian Board as a Div 1 Nurse.
  • Demonstrated experience in first aid, emergency response and clinical assessment.
  • Experience in paediatric, adolescent, community or school nursing.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational abilities, flexibility, and professionalism.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, care, and student wellbeing.
  • A proactive approach to compliance, risk management, and documentation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child safe practices including reporting requirements.
