The contributions from our student speakers elevated this gathering even further. Mietta reminded us of the importance of rest and recovery when striving for personal bests, and how thoughtful use of your ‘comfort zone’ for rejuvenation and replenishment can prepare you for the rigours of stepping outside that zone — a message that resonated deeply with students and staff alike. Reeva highlighted the power of empathy and kindness, reinforcing the simple truth that strong communities are built through everyday acts of understanding and care.
Soon after, the Excellence Assembly brought a different kind of energy, celebrating the achievements of our 2025 students. That occasion honoured not only strong academic performance but also the diverse pathways and passions that define learning at our school. The stories shared — of curiosity, perseverance, courage, and the pursuit of personal bests — illustrated our values in action and reflected the growth of students across VCE, VET and beyond.
This sense of purpose was also discussed during the Year 12 Afternoon Tea, where students and families gathered to mark the beginning of the final year of schooling. That conversation highlighted the importance of partnership, clear communication, and the meaningful relationships our staff build with students — relationships that support academic confidence, wellbeing, and a profound sense of belonging. It also reaffirmed our belief that students flourish when they feel seen, supported, and connected.
Throughout the campus, the year has begun with a vibrant hum of activity. Junior School families have already been reconnecting, and preparations for House Music are well underway, fuelled by the enthusiasm of our senior students. Year 7s are settling in beautifully, meeting their Houses and preparing for upcoming camp experiences that will strengthen friendships and help shape their identity as learners. These early-term milestones remind us of the strength and warmth of our community, and of how our values are lived through shared events, collective effort, and the joy of coming together.
Another highlight of the start to the year has been the enthusiastic use of the new outdoor basketball play‑space. Students from across the College have embraced this area from the very first day back. Their laughter, energy and constant movement have already transformed it into a focal point of connection and play. It is wonderful to see this space being used exactly as intended — a place where students come together, stay active, and strengthen relationships. Thank you to everyone involved in bringing this outstanding addition to life; it is already enriching our daily school experience.
Momentum is building quickly, and the positivity across campus is unmistakable. The year ahead promises opportunities for learning, discovery, challenge, and celebration. Our community thrives when we work together, and there is real strength in the collective commitment shown by students, families, and staff.
Welcome to 2026 — I look forward to all that we will achieve together.
