ELTHAM College is seeking a caring, organised and proactive School Nurse / First Aid Officer to join our team. Working closely with another School Nurse and wider wellbeing team, this role provides first aid and health support to students from our Early Learning Centre through to Year 12, helping to create a safe and supportive learning environment.

The is a part-time position working on a Wednesday and Friday each week.

About the Role

As a School Nurse / First Aid Officer, you will play a key role in supporting student health and wellbeing across the College. Working within the Health Centre, you will provide first aid care, assist with the management of student health needs, maintain health records and support the delivery of health services and wellbeing initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing first aid treatment and care for students who become ill or injured during the school day. 
  • Supporting students with chronic health conditions including asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes and epilepsy. 
  • Assisting with the implementation and monitoring of student health care plans. 
  • Maintaining accurate health and first aid records. 
  • Communicating with parents and carers regarding student health matters. 
  • Assisting with medication management in accordance with College procedures. 
  • Maintaining first aid supplies, equipment and Health Centre resources. 
  • Supporting health and wellbeing programs, excursions, camps and College events. 
  • Contributing to a safe, caring and child-safe environment for all students.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Qualifications and experience relevant to nursing, first aid or student health support. 
  • Current First Aid and CPR qualifications. 
  • Current Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management training.
  • Experience working with children and young people, preferably within a school or healthcare environment. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Strong organisational and administrative capabilities. 
  • The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in emergency situations. 
  • A compassionate, professional and student-centred approach.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child safe practices.
