At ELTHAM we have a number of co-curricular groups and activities that involve an awareness and care for the COMMUNITY.


BIG GROUP HUG

Students work within the ELTHAM  College community to support the charity, Big Group Hug. 

Students will also be organising and running donation campaigns in Term 2 and Term 4 to align with needs and campaigns of BGH. This involves educating and liaising with all student year levels and communicating with the wider ELTHAM community.

Sessions - Event specific on a needs basis   

Available for students in Year 10 - 12.

CHINESE CLUB (JUNIOR SCHOOL)

Chinese Club is a fun and hands-on space where students explore Chinese language and culture through a variety of engaging activities. Students can choose the activities they are most interested in, including Chinese art and craft, Chinese calligraphy, Chinese books and stories, traditional Chinese board games, and Chinese dance. The club encourages curiosity, creativity, and cultural appreciation in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Available for students in Year 1 - 6.

CHINESE HUB

Welcome to our dynamic Chinese Hub, where students actively participate in co-curricular activities that seamlessly integrate language learning with the richness of Chinese culture. This hub will be led by Chinese teachers and senior school students who are passionate about language learning and are keen to promote a diverse learning environment at ELTHAM College. From interactive Mandarin workshops and cultural celebrations to calligraphy, brush painting, and traditional Chinese art, our diverse program offers a blend of linguistic proficiency and cultural immersion. Join us on this holistic journey where language and cultural appreciation converge for an enriching co-curricular experience.

Available for students in Year 7 – 12.

ENVIRONMENT ACTION GROUP

Students from the Senior school are invited to join the Environment Action Group to become active members to raise awareness and to plan and implement activities with the environment as the central focus. This will include activities for Junior and Senior school students to connect and participate in activities to improve our environment across ELTHAM College.

The Environment Action Group supports student-led initiatives to “Act Local and Think Global”.

Available for students in Year 7 – 12.

FRENCH BUDDIES CLUB

The French Buddies Club is a peer mentoring initiative designed to strengthen connections between Year 10 and Year 11 French students. This club provides a relaxed and supportive environment where Year 11 students mentor and guide Year 10 students through their language learning journey. Held during Monday lunchtimes, the sessions include fun French-themed activities, collaborative learning, and opportunities for students to ask questions, receive help, and practice their French in an informal setting. It’s a great way to build confidence, reinforce classroom learning, and foster a strong sense of community among French learners.

Available for students in Year 10 – 11.

 

FRENCH LANGUAGE MODEL UN

French Language Model UN simulates a full-day session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The day is conducted entirely in the French language and through role-play and debate students have the opportunity to step into the shoes of country ambassadors and use their negotiation and diplomacy skills to express the views of their allocated country.

Sessions - Event specific Friday 25 July. Preparation in Term 2 Thursday 1.20pm - 1.50pm (available to French students only).

Available for students in Year 11 - 12.   

 

MODEL UNITED NATIONS

Model United Nations is an academic simulation of the United Nations where students play the role of delegates from different countries and attempt to solve real world issues with the policies and perspectives of their assigned country. The 2026 topic is: Space Research and Sustainable Development: Improving life on Earth?

Available for students in Year 10 – 12.


Premier's Spirit of Democracy


The Premier's Spirit of Democracy (PSoD) Study Tour explores the origins of democracy, building a deeper understanding of the influence that democracy has on contemporary Victorian and Australian society. It is an annual competition open to students enrolled in Years 9, 10 and 11.

Sessions - The Parliamentary Prize runs in August - October each year. Preparation sessions will be run at lunchtime as students require them.
