Year 7 is designed to embed a love of learning and students demonstrating the College values.

The ELTHAM College values are:

  • Be courageous
  • Be curious
  • Be respectful
  • Own it
  • One team

Students start embedding these in behaviour and mindset, setting them up for the following Senior School years.

Leadership

At ELTHAM College, we believe leadership begins early. For our Year 7 students, the Future Leaders program is a key part of this journey - helping them step into leadership roles, build essential life skills, and lay the foundations for personal growth beyond the classroom.

In Years 7 – 8, each students’ core curriculum consists of English and Mathematics as a daily part of their program, together with Languages, Science, Humanities, Physical Education and Sport.

This is an exciting year where ELTHAM students start immersing themselves in the wider school community through joining their House and participating in collaborative projects like House Music, staged at Hamer Hall at Arts Centre Melbourne, House Cross Country and the Year 5 – 8 Production.

The ELTHAM Outdoor Education program takes Year 7 students to Anglesea for Surf Camp, focusing on “Who We Are and How We Fit In”. Students experience and develop skills in marine activities, camp preparation, Trangia stove cooking, swimming (assessment), surf lessons, mountain bike riding, canoeing and hiking.
